Borja Lasso is living his dream and doesn't want to live any other way having been called up from Sevilla Atlético and signing for the first team. The centre-midfielder appeared before the media to speak about his new contract. He was, of course, delighted: “My priority was to stay in the first team and when they told me I would be doing pre-season with them, I was determined to do well and convince the coach. The boss told me he was happy with my work and wanted me to carry on training with them. And I'm delighted to stay in the first team, very happy to be here and excited for the start of the season”.

Lasso declared himself “very happy to debut for the first team in the league on Saturday. I have to be very grateful for the chance the boss gave me. I want to keep doing well and getting chances… I really want to play in la Liga, it's what every player dreams of.

He continued, talking about his coach, Berizzo: “The boss told me he wants to use me in all central-midfield roles, that I have to be prepared to play whatever position, that I should learn from my team-mates, that he's going to rely on me adjusting beacuse he's going to use me in many different places in midfield and that I need to be ready”.

On this Tuesday's Champions League play-off, he said: “I was sat next to David Soria and we were both on edge, because we knew Emre takes really good free-kicks… It was nerve-wracking, but every team has to suffer to get into the Champions League - the best competition in the world. The team played a great match and is now going to be in the draw”.

Regarding the aim for the season, he said: “it's a long season ahead but we have to take each game at a time. The boss said the other day that we have 38 leagues of one game and that's how we need to see it… This season we can't gift anything away, every match is going to be demanding”.

Beyond the season to come, Borja Lasso wanted to relive what he has already achieved: “I was able to experience promotion to the Second Division, which was a wonderful experience. Last year in the Second Division was spectacular and this year the step up to the first-team is special for me. I really want to do my bit and for us to have an amazing season”.
