Jesús Navas suffered an injury in the last part of the season just ended, and it is because of this that his time off still has not started, something he made clear during his interview on SFC Radio's Sólo el Sevilla: "I'm still working and going to the Sports Village in an attempt to get back on track after these two months of injury. I want to be on top from the beginning because we've got a lot of important games coming up whereby we need to fight hard". He also spoke about the challenging preseason ahead: "There will be matches at a high level and we are looking forward to starting with the new manager".

Commenting on what has been said about him by Pablo Machín in the magazine Football Club, Navas was completely honest: "It's an honor to hear what the coach has had to say about me. In England Pep put me there and it is a position I know well. I learnt a lot defensively when playing for City and I am very happy there".

Navas' career has been long-spanning, but he stresses that his motivation keeps growing: "Each time I am more driven to play with hopes of being able to help the team have a great year. This injury has been a problem for a lot longer than I would liked, but I am working hard". The player also confirmed that, despite injury, this season only got better: "The continuity is very important, at the start there were a lot of rotations. It is something that, personally, did not help me because you lose confidence. However, with the arrival of Montella I was able to play Sunday and Wednesday".

Finally, he praised the work of Joaquín Caparrós since his return, and his thoughts on the academy: "It's something that is very important, to have homegrown players. It is vital for them to have confidence".
