PAHUET - SEVILLA'S FIRST SCORER IN EUROPE - DIES AGED 92

This Tuesday Vicente Pascual Sebastiá, better known in the footballing world as Pahuet, died aged 92. The striker, after playing for his local CD Castellón, Levante, Osasuna and Málaga signed for the Nervionenses then chaired by Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in 1955. He would stay for three seasons, until his departure to Elche CF in 1958.

Pahuet became more than a fan favourite in one of the Club's best spells after scoring Sevilla's first ever goal in European competition. He would net in the last-16 of the 57/58 European Cup which saw Sevilla defeat Benfica 3-1 to secure a place in the quarter-finals. 

In his journey as a Nervionense, Pahuet saw the side finish fourth place in his first season, second place in 56/57 and tenth place in his final season with the Club. It would be in his final campaign that Sevilla would reach their the quarter-finals ofthe Champions League - a feat only replicated this season. In total, he played 75 matches and scored 25 goals. Sevilla FC would like to send its condolences to the family and loved ones of Pahuet. Rest in peace
