SERGIO RICO: "I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE MAKING HISTORY WITH SEVILLA"

The goalkeeper assured that "it was freezing and not moving around a lot made it tough, but luckily they didn't pressure us too much and I was able to settle"

Sergio Rico also spoke to the press regarding the draw against Maribor and qualification to the last 16: "It's something that's extremely important and we are pleased to have been able to qualify, for the second year running, to the next round. It's a historical moment for the club and I am happy to be able to continue making history with Sevilla".

The running of the match was not as hoped, but once again, Sevilla reacted: "It is difficult, especially when the opponent shuts up shop, to have patience and believe that a goal can come at any moment. That's exactly what we did, and we continued trying to do so. With intensity in the second half, we finally found the back of the net". Furthermore, the cold was a knock-back: "It was freezing and not moving around a lot made things tough, but luckily we were able to deal with it".

Despite his young age, the goalkeeper can already reflect on his career so far: "I am pleased with what I've done in recent years. I came here as the third goalkeeper, like Juan Soriano now, and today I have the opportunity to be on the pitch".

Finally, he spoke about the upcoming draw and the importance of being in good shape for February: "Whatever it is that needs to be done, we will do it. We've got two very tough months beforehand and we need to be conscious of how we go into the match. I hope that we will be in the best of shape with the same drive we've seen in previous games".
