History

Founded in 1928, Club Deportivo Leganés, hail from the Spanish capital Madrid. After a modest history in the lower divisions, the club gradually rose through the leagues, reaching Segunda División in 1993 and eventually earning a historic promotion to La Liga for the first time in the club’s history in 2016. They remained in the top-flight for four seasons, achieving their best finish—13th—in 2018/19 and reaching the Copa del Rey semifinals. After relegation in 2020, they returned to La Liga by winning the 2023–24 Segunda División title.

Since beating Getafe 1-0 at the start of March, they have gone seven games without a win and will be looking to get the points in their bid to avoid relegation.
