Valentín Barco spoke in his first official interview following his loan signing from Brighton. The Argentine said: "I'm very happy to sign for this club and I'm looking forward to playing. Ever since I found out that coming here was a possibility I was very interested and excited. I am very lucky to be here."

"Pre-season has gone very well. We started in Brighton, then went to Tokyo and finished there again. Physically I feel great," he said about his pre-season and the fact that he is in perfect condition.

On how LALIGA could suit his game and his development, Barco said: "I'm proud to be in this league. It is a challenge. Because of my style of play, LALIGA can be very good for me. I think my playing style is suited to LALIGA."

"It is an honour to replace Acuña, he is a great player"

"My development as a player was very quick. That's what comes with playing for Boca. I try not to think about what's going on outside and always focus on what's on the pitch. It was a dream of mine to be able to make my debut for the national team and I was able to fulfil it. Now I want to play so that I can continue to stay there," he said of his early breakthrough and debut for the Argentina national team.

Barco comes to cover the departure of Marcos Acuña, something he knows is no easy task: "Acuña is a great player. He won everything with the national team and he also won titles here, so I'm proud to be able to follow in his footsteps. We are similar in that we are both attacking-minded and very technical players."

I have been improving as a player over recent months. I am ready"

On his playing style, he said: "‘I'm more offensive than defensive, but I like to defend a lot. I was able to talk to the coach. I really liked his idea of playing football, how he plays with the full-backs and I found it very interesting. That's why I made the decision to come here. The change to Europe is a big change, a big step in a player's career. It's difficult, but I've been improving over recent months. I feel I'm ready."

"Maradona played here and Bilardo coached here. I'm proud of them because they are two icons in Argentine football. It's very nice to be able to play for the same club."

"I spoke to Ansu Fati and he was very positive about the club"

Valentín Barco said that he knew the club he was coming to: "I know the history of Sevilla. I know the success in the Europa League. It is a club with a lot of history and an incredible fan base. I hope I can give them something on the pitch. I spoke to Ansu Fati before I came and asked him. He told me that it was a very big club that played good football and he was very positive about the club."

Finally, the Argentine sent a message to the fans: "I hope to play a lot, that's my goal, to have a very good season. I'm going to give everything on the pitch."
