2020 will not be remembered as a positive year for the world, for obvious reasons. Life as we know it has changed for everyone in these challenging times, but Sevilla FC and their innate ability to adapt to any situation has allowed them to push on. The year will be remembered by Sevilla fans as obviously the year of Covid, but also the year we touched the sky in Cologne. Although fans have unfortunately not been allowed into the stadium since February, the team has been making the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán a true fortress in 2020.
The last loss at home came against Villarreal on 15 December 2019 in La Liga, Sevilla's last home match of 2019. Since then, they have been unbeaten in their fortress, with a tally of nine wins and five draws in 14 matches, 12 of them in La Liga, one in the Copa del Rey and the other in the UEFA Europa League. Of those 14, half were played with fans and the other half without.
The team's performance post-lockdown has been impressive, with five wins from seven at home, coming against Betis, Eibar, Mallorca, Valencia and Levante, with draws against Valladolid and Barcelona. Of those 630 minutes of game-time, the side only conceded one goal, against Valladolid, and have scored seven. Of the 14 games at home, the team has kept eight clean sheets, with the balance of goals at the Sánchez-Pizjuán in 2020 standing at 20 goals for and 8 against.
