Sevilla FC and Nico Pareja have reached an agreement for the termination of the Argentine centre-back's contract. Pareja, first-team captain for the Nervionenses in the 17/18 season, leaves Sevilla FC after five seasons. In his time at the Club he has played 120 matches and won three Europa League titles.
AGREEMENT WITH NICO PAREJA FOR CONTRACT TERMINATION
Pareja joined Sevilla FC in the summer of 2013, where he was trusted from the very start by then-boss Unai Emery. In his first season he was a key member of the team that would be declared UEFA Champions in Turin against Benfica. It would be impossible to forget his incredible match, saving the team on two occasions when Beto was beaten.
His weight in Sevilla's squad continued to be seen in the 14/15 season, though a bad injury at the end of April 2015 (in the return-leg of a European tie with Zenit) stopped him from playing in the final month of competition and kept him out for a large part of the 15/16 season. In 16/17, now under the orders of Sampaoli, Pareja reclaimed his spot as a starter and made an unarguable contribution to the side. He also picked up minutes in the 17/18 season - leading him to an Argentina call-up for the first round of international fixtures - but once again, injuries hampered his run.
Sevilla FC would like to thank Nico Pareja for his dedication and commitment during the five seasons he's worn a Sevilla shirt. We wish him the best of luck in his next professional step.
