Time and again it has been proved that if we all come together, we can achieve anything. Sevillismo has once again proved to be a united and global phenomenon, this time working as a team to fulfill the dreams of two lucky Sevillistas abroad. This past February, three local fan-clubs joined forces to help make two fans' dreams come true. Ahmed, a Sevillista from Iraq and Alex, another Sevillista living in Rostov (Russia), both had the lifelong ambition to experience a match in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán; this Friday the former will finally see his ambition become a reality thanks to the fundraising efforts of the 'Mi tío tenía razón', 'PS Rotes Blut de Alemania y Luxemburgo' and 'PS Coca de la Piñera' fan-clubs.
The call to arms was first made months ago, with raising money for flights and accommodation for the two loyal Sevillistas the first hurdle to overcome. Sevillistas around the world responded and barely three months later, the money needed to bring Ahmed to Nervión has been raised - this Friday, the founder of the Antonio Puerta Football School in Baghdad and a bastion of Sevillismo in his country of origin will be there to watch Sevilla FC face off against Real Sociedad. It's an achievement that would not have been possible without the Spanish ambassador in Iraq, Juan José Escobar Stemmann, who went above and beyond to facilitate the completion of bureaucratic necessities. The three fan-clubs involved are especially grateful for his efforts.
Alex's journey has been delayed until August, though he will eventually see the first-leg of the Spanish Supercup
In the case of Alex, bureaucratic procedures have prevented a journey to the Sánchez-Pizjuán before the end of the season. Nevertheless, this August, he will also have his turn, when seeing the first-leg of the Spanish Supercup against FC Barcelona. It should be mentioned that although sufficient funds have been raised to cover the travel costs of both Sevillistas, the collaboration of more Sevillistas to cover accommodation and other expenses is still greatly appreciated.
