SEVILLA FC WILL PLAY AGAINST ARSENAL IN THE EMIRATES CUP IN LONDON ON 30TH JULY

Sevilla FC are beginning to finalise pre-season details ahead of the 2022/23 season, when the team will again compete in the UEFA Champions League. The first opponents to be confirmed are none other than Premier League side Arsenal FC, who are also fighting for a place in Europe's elite competition. The match, taking place as part of the Emirates Cup, will be played on Saturday 30th July at 12:30 local time, 13:30 CEST. 

It will also be a nice opportunity for both sides to pay tribute to José Antonio Reyes together, three years after he sadly passed away. He made the move from Seville to North London in January 2004, bringing an end to his first spell at Nervión. This will be the eleventh time that Arsenal have hosted the Emirates Cup, and the second time that Sevilla have taken part. The team travelled to London back in 2017 and finished in second place after defeating RB Leipzig (1-0) and Arsenal (2-1).

Sporting Director Monchi stated that "it's an honour for our club to take part in this prestigious clash against one of the most important sides in the Premier League. It will be a great opportunity to measure the level of our team at that stage of pre-season against such a strong squad. Also, it will be an emotional moment to remember our José Antonio Reyes, who we dearly miss, together with the club where he was most loved after his own home".
