Eduardo Berizzo, manager of Sevilla FC, discussed in a press conference the victory of his team against Girona CF: "The changes and the rotations kept us in the ring. In the first half we were developing but we were unable to break through the opposition. In the second half we were more intense, we scored a goal and we had to close, because if you do not finish off the game as we failed to do, you will struggle as we have done today at the end with a growing team and fans that encourage them. Despite struggling, looking back on the game, this can be considered a valued victory."

The Argentinian explained that "despite conceding the penalty I don´t consider the match to be unfair. They have had clear and obvious opportunities. They came alive because we did not adjust, although having opportunities to do so. The opponent fought hard and fortunately the post saved us, giving us the match win".

Berizzo concluded with an appreciation of the victory of Sevilla FC: "The final strength of the team was produced by means of our own mistake. In Liverpool we did it ourselves. It produces a reaction and makes the team feel like they are capable of turning the result around. We had our chances because we are dangerous in our attack and at the end we worked hard and struggled on the pitch which all teams will have to do."
