The Chairman declared himself happy at the backing "of - above all else - the shareholders"

After all was said and done at the Shareholders' Assembly of 2017, club Chairman José Castro spoke to the press to make an evaluation of the meeting: "The impression is that it was an eventful Assembly, in the sense that there were a lot of shareholders present and there was a lot of money represented. There were concerns, questions to answer, numbers and budgets and that's good for the club".

He did not want enter into votes cast against the different points of the day "I don't have an opinion and I'm still here with the backing of the Assembly and of the shareholders in general. That fills me with happiness and it gives me the strength to keep working on behalf of Sevilla FC. I respect the opinions of all the shareholders who have their rights on a day like today to explain what they believe be it correct or not. I want us to have a bigger budget to build a better team and achieve bigger objectives than in the last years. Above all, in the past two years we've worked well and achieved good results - something that's difficult to pull together".

Then on the sporting side, Castro did not try to hide the bad taste left after Saturday: "The first Sevillista hurt by the failings in the Bernabéu is me. Matches like that happen but I don't think the team dug in. The coaches are there to solve that and a signing has been made. If we're talking about zero debt and 23 million Euros in profit, we can't say there's no money to make signings".

He also indicated that the manager will be back soon: "I speak with Berizzo every day and we're very happy with his development. He will be training a lot sooner than we all thought because he's mad to come back to the Sports Village". Asked about whether he feels more like a chairman, he said nothing has changed: "I have my faults like anyone but if anything characterises me it's my humility, I'll die with it. I'm happy with the backing received and that the work has been valued by the shareholders but I am who I am and nobody is going to change me".

Finally, he spoke about the Champions League draw: "It will be difficult but Manchester City or PSG would have been worse. We have to be happy though it's a very tough opponent but they'll be thinking the same about us".
