The La Liga Executive Committee has voted unanimously in favour of La Liga impulso, the agreement between La Liga and CVC to increase the league's global worth.
La Liga Impulso is an ambitious plan to provide the league and its clubs with a global outlook and to boost the league's popularity and fan experience. La Liga will continue to keep hold of its commercial and audiovisual rights.
90% of the 2.7 billion euros being injected in to the deal will go to the clubs, including women's football, semi-professional and non-professional football. It is seen to be a strategic and fair agreement, which not only protects and safeguards the Spanish clubs' financial future, but also encourages them to broaden their horizons and continue their development and transformation over the next decade.
Clubs must ensure that they adequately allocate the investment that they are given to promote their Development Plan with La Liga. However, 70% of the investment received must be focused on infrastructural, international and marketing developments. 15% can be used on signings and the remaining 15% should be used for financial needs.
The agreement values La Liga at 24.35 billion euros, which recognises the league as one of the most prestigious and valuable sporting competitions worldwide, as well as its potential to grow and develop further through the resources provided as part of the deal.
La Liga President, Javier Tebas, also touched upon the league's worth to global sport: 'We have one of the best football competitions in the world. Of course, there are short-term financial challenges that we must deal with urgently. However, this agreement with CVC will revolutionise the way in which clubs are managed and will no doubt make these clubs a lot more attractive and appealing. We will have better players and resources as well as improved fan experiences too. The foundations are being laid to transform La Liga in to the most attractive football competition worldwide.'
