Sébastien Corchia was presented this afternoon in the José Antonio Sánchez Araújo press room of the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. The player, who even managed to correctly say a few words in Spanish, revealed what he was told by Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa when he told him that he was going to Sevilla: “I had been working with Bielsa for three weeks and when I told him that I was coming here he joked that the move wouldn't be suicide. He told me that I was coming to a great club with a great coach”. Specifically, Berizzo being the coach of Sevilla was one of the key reasons for his decision to come to Nervión: “One of the reasons why I came here is because I like Berizzo as a coach. I like his methods and that there is a great team”.
But there were other matters brought to the table. The player showed his desire to come to the club and spoke about how well he had been received: “I already wanted to come here and to put on the shirt. I was looking forward to it. My teammates have welcomed me with open arms. I'm very happy to be here at Sevilla, which is a great club. One of the reasons why I came is that this is a team that wins trophies. Let's see if we can have a good season in the Champions League and win a trophy this season”.
Another question was about his Spanish. The full-back gave it a go and those present were pleasantly surprised: “I can say some things and I knew a little bit before I came. I'm going to try to be able to speak it as soon as possible. I'm going to learn quickly because it's important to know Spanish. I speak a little bit and my understanding is good. I'm very happy to be here. I was taught it at school and I'm also part Italian, and both languages are very similar”.
