CORREA: "A BITTER TASTE," BUT "WE'LL GO THERE LOOKING TO WIN"

Joaquín Correa was a surprise inclusion in Jorge Sampaoli's starting XI but the Argentine did not disappoint in the win against Leicester City.

The 22-year-old won a penalty and stepped up to take the spot kick, only to see his effort saved by Kasper Schmeichel. Correa then atoned for his error with a goal on 62 minutes to double Sevilla's lead, before Jamie Vardy snatched an away goal for the visitors to leave Sevilla with work to do in the second leg on March 14.

“There’s a bitter taste left from them scoring an away goal, as it has complicated things for us a bit," he said. 

"It wasn’t a 2-1 game and we didn’t expect them to score. We will always create chances, we had a lot more possession and when these things happen they have an impact on us, but we will go the second leg and play our way. We’ve got to go there looking to win.”

On the decision to take the penalty that he won, Correa explained: “I had won a few penalties and I was never able to take them. My teammates gave me the confidence to take it, it didn’t come off today but next time it will. I’m grateful for their support."
