Sevilla FC will face Deportivo Alavés in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey. Having defeated Linares Deportivo in the last round, Sevilla's name was firmly in the hat for Saturday's draw. Jorge Sampaoli and his team will now take the trip up North to the Mendizorroza to face the side from Vitoria. The game will be played between the 17th and 19th of January.
Interestingly, the two sides have only faced each other once before in the cup, in the semifinals of the 1938/39 season, in which Sevilla triumphed 6-5 at home in the first leg and a 1-1 draw was played out only days later in the reverse fixture. Sevilla went on to lift what was to be the second of their 5 Copa del Rey triumphs after beating Racing de Ferrol convincingly 6-2 in the final.
