José María del Nido Carrasco spoke on Tuesday afternoon at the farewell for Lucas Ocampos. “I think it’s a day of opposing emotions. On the one hand sadness upon saying goodbye to Lucas, but then satisfaction because both Lucas and Sevilla can rest because the objectives specified have been fulfilled”. In this sense he added “It’s a special day, because you carry the love of the whole club and of your relatives. You have left a mark here, if I had to define you as a player it would be the word commitment. You reflect everything that this club stands for, but you also have these qualities that define a Sevillano and a Sevillista.”
The President also remembered- in front of a packed conference room- the journey of several compatriots of Ocampos: “There have been many Argentines in Sevilla FC. Ever, Diego Armando, more recently Marcos, Gonzalo… when one speaks of Argentina and Sevilla FC it will always be written in gold letters the name of Lucas Ocampos”. In a similar fashion, Del Nido Carrasco referred to his numbers: “A great legend leaves here, more than 200 matches, two Europa League titles- one of them in the pandemic playing injured, which serves to demonstrate his commitment- and after a fairly poor first half of a season, you returned to redeem yourself with a second-half showing the level of player that you are."
He ended by wishing his best in the next stage: “You are always going to have the doors open here, we all love you very much. You have won the right to decide your future. Thank you so much and best of luck, Lucas”.
