Not shying away from the difficulty the second-leg Champions League play-off against Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir brought with it Sevilla FC's, Sergio Escudero - scorer of the Nervión side's first goal - said: “We knew it would be a very tough match, they were very strong opponents, who had good possession of the ball, and used it very well… but the important thing is we have qualified. It was a very difficult play-off, against very tough opponents and what's important is that we've gone through. We have to be happy with that”.
"In the second half we had more of the ball and moved it more quickly"
The wing-back analysed the game: “We were less accurate with the ball in the first half, then in the second we used the ball more quickly had more time and created chances. It was the main objective, to be in the Champions League, just like in past seasons. Sevilla deserves to be amongst the best”.
On an individual level, and asked about being picked for the next Spain squad, Escudero said: “I will do my best to help my team - that is the most important thing”.
