For the second season in a row, we begin our journey in the Copa del Rey in the neighbouring province of Córdoba. The draw, which took place this Thursday afternoon, pits Julen Lopetegui's men against Córdoba CF, who lead Group 4 in the Segunda RFEF and who won their place in this year's competition after making it to the semi-finals of the RFEF Cup.
The match will take place at the Nuevo Arcángel Stadium at 19:00 on 1 December as the team have La Liga clashes on Sunday 28 November at the Santiago Bernabéu and Saturday 4 December at home against Villarreal. It is the seventh time both teams play each other in the cup, with Sevilla winning on every occasion thus far. The last time they encountered each other was in 91/92 with Sevilla advancing with a 2-1 win at home following a 2-2 draw in Córdoba.
They also played each other in the first round in 86/87 (2-0 win), the first round in 85/86 (10-2 win), the second round in 79/80 (3-2 win), the third round in 78/79 (7-3 win), and in the fourth round in 48/49 (3-0 win). Córdoba have some former Sevilla Atlético players in their ranks with Bernardo Cruz, Viedma, Simo and Casas.
