Sevilla FC can today confirm our first mid-season friendly ahead of our return to competitive action on 21st December, against Juventud de Torremolinos in the Copa del Rey Second Round.
We will return to the Algarve to face SL Benfica on Sunday 11th December, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 local time, 18:00 CET. The match will take place at the Estadio Algarve, which hosted our friendlies against AS Roma and PSG in the summer of 2021.
Benfica are the current league leaders in Portugal, with an eight-point lead over FC Porto. In Europe, they reached the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 as group winners, and will face Club Brugge.
Last season, they finished third in the league, and were runners-up in the League Cup against Sporting.
This will be the first clash between the two sides since the summer of 2018, when the Lisbon side won 1-0 in Zurich. Of course, the last official meeting was the UEFA Europa League Final in 2014, when we won on penalties to secure the third of our six titles.
