Sergio Ramos, Mariano Díaz and Gudelj spoke to the press after Tuesday night's loss at home to Arsenal in their third UEFA Champions League group game of the campaign. The three players all highlighted a strong reaction after going 0-2 down, but Sergio Ramos ultimately admitted that the synopsis is negative given the result: "We didn't achieve what we set out to, although there were some positives, notably the way we responded in the second half. The second goal after half-time cost us but we were able to get back into the contest. We relied on the strength of character that defines this team and tried to turn the game on its head. It didn't work out in the end, but there are three games and nine points to play for."

On the other hand, the centre-back rued his side's misfortune in their previous two European games: "Football is a results business so you can never be satisfied with a draw and a loss. Luck simply hasn't been on our side. There is no option but to keep working, put the negative results behind us and take each game as it comes."

Mariano Díaz went on to give his take on his return to action after overcoming injury, as well as bemoaning the result against Arsenal: "I felt good and was desperate to get back out on the pitch, it's just a shame that we couldn't grab the draw at the end. Despite two difficult goals to take, we tried to mount a comeback, scoring the first and going close in search of the second we needed to secure a point."

Nemanja Gudelj, Sevilla's goalscorer on the night, was visibly disappointed after the defeat: "It's a painful loss in a game where we gave our all. We left everything out there and played some good football at times against a top side. I can only congratulate my teammates on their effort and desire. There was very little in it tonight." Equally, the Serb touched on the frustration at not managing to find the equaliser after he pulled one back: It's a shame the game ended there, we believed we were close to levelling the scores. After we scored our first, the belief was there, so it's a shame we couldn't draw the game."
