Sevilla FC's President, José Castro, spoke once again to the media in the San Pablo Airport, just before the squad were about to take off for Cyprus. Tomorrow, they have their final UEL group stage match against APOEL FC, with both teams having already qualified for the Round of 32. He started off by saying that "it's nice travelling knowing that our work has been done. They have also everything wrapped up, therefore I'm sure we're going to see players who don't play as often in La Liga. However, of course we will try to win, it's in our DNA".
JOSÉ CASTRO: "IT'S A HARD COMPETITION BUT WE WANT TO WIN IT"
"Let's hope that tomorrow can be our sixth consecutive win in Europe, but the important thing is that we're already qualified even if we want to continue winning. Nothing is ever given to you, you have to earn it".
"We're very happy because, on top of the results, we're seeing a team that is recognisible each time we play, with fight, quality etc. No matter how well we're doing at this moment in time, the results will only be known at the end of the season in May".
"We have a fantastic squad and we need to be focused on continuing to win"
Castro was asked about the forthcoming winter transfer market: "Football is football, we have three strikers that are here to get us goals and I'm sure that they're going to break their goalscoring drought soon. There's still a lot of games left for them to do so. We have to be focused on continuing to win football matches. The market is approaching, but I already said in summer that we did a lot of work then so that we had a good squad. The other thing is Monchi and we'll just have to wait and see".
"It's not about who wants it more, Monchi or myself. We have a fantastic squad and we have to think about it. When the market comes around, if Monchi thinks along with the coaches that we need something, then we'll see. The important thing is that we achieve our objectives".
"The UEL is going to be tough and competitive; but we're the ones who have won it the most and we want to win it again"
Talking about the teams that they've already met and the ones that are going to be in the next round of the UEL, José Castro said that "you only have to look at the three or four teams that came down from the Champions League last night to know that it's going to be tough competition. But we're the ones who have won it the most and therefore, for us, competing and trying to win it is a necessity. Our ambition is known worldwide. When teams face us they will know that we're going for it, as always".
"The amount of academy players in the squad is only logical. There's a lot of demanding games coming up and they deserve this opportunity".
