Julen Lopetegui in action against Villarreal CF
First team

LOPETEGUI: "THEY HAD THE INITIATIVE IN THE SECOND HALF BUT WE KNEW HOW TO COMPETE"

"Acuña has suffered a fracture" he noted after the Argentinian was forced to leave the pitch

Sevilla FC coach Julen Lopetegui assessed the win of his side against Villarreal CF on Saturday afternoon. "In summary, we got three very important points. We started the first half well, wearing them out. We prevented them from taking the initiative and we could have scored another. In the second half, they had the initiative and our effort dropped as we tired, but we knew how to compete and we have only let them in on one occasion, where we didn't press and it nearly hurt us."

He added, "Acuña has a fracture" while he highlighted the fact that "the fans kept us going and supported us. They knew that the team was suffering in many ways and the truth is we have to thank them."

He finished by talking about the game on Wednesday against FC Salzburg, where Sevilla FC have to win to seal their passage through to the last 16 of the Champions League. "Now ahead of us is a real final against a difficult opponent. We have to recover, see what injuries we have and prepare well."
