"We paid the price for a bad start and we lacked accuracy after their second goal"

Julen Lopetegui gave his thoughts after Sunday's home defeat against Villarreal CF: "The team did a lot of things to win, we dominated everything apart from the two most important areas, the 18-yard boxes. We paid the price for a bad start with their goal from a corner-kick routine, and afterwards we had a lot of chances. We were able to draw level, and just when we were feeling good, they scored an unusual goal from their only chance. We rushed our chances and we lacked accuracy".

The Basque manager continued: "We equalised, but no one expected it to stay like that. We felt we could go out and win, but they had that one chance and got a second. We had a final flurry of chances but we weren't accurate with them. We played with rhythm but the result has cost us a lot".

Lopetegui finished by saying that "we have to keep Europe separate, we had already achieved our aims, today we wanted three points. Now it's time to respond and think about the cup and finish this week as we'd like to, with two wins".
