Julen Lopetegui has given his pre-match press conference today ahead of Saturday's match against Getafe CF. The Sevilla FC manager began by stating that "this is the prelude to a complicated and very difficult match. We know Getafe, they're a competitive team and have outlets who they use really well, and they demand a lot of their opponents, even more so at home. It will be a really demanding match because they really know how to compete and play".
LOPETEGUI: "IT WILL BE A REALLY DEMANDING MATCH BECAUSE THEY REALLY KNOW HOW TO COMPETE AND PLAY"
Lopetegui continued to speak about tomorrow's opponents, before turning to team selection issues: "I don't analyse other managers, it's not my job and I have so much respect for them. We have players who are injured who will not be able to help us tomorrow. We have to focus on those who are available, they're the ones who will help us. We've got a lot of injuries, but that's part and parcel of the times in which we're living".
"Jesús Navas, Óliver and Munir have not trained. Tomorrow we'll decide on who's playing"
"Every match is different, that's how it will be. Whatever we do, we'll earn it tomorrow. Jesús Navas has not trained, and neither has Óliver or Munir. There are players out and we'll see who travels or not and also what we can do tomorrow, which is when we'll make the decision", he added.
The focus then turned back to tomorrow's encounter: "Getafe are technically, tactically and physically demanding because they're a good side. I can see desire in the team as they approach challenges, and they have confidence in themselves, within the huge demands that we have. It's time to focus on each match and now it's time for Getafe, which will be hugely testing".
"Behind every decision there is an analysis and then it may or may not work out because this is football"
"That's not within our control, it has been and will always be like this. We make our decisions based on this extraordinary situation. We're always thinking in what's best for the team and the next match, but this year it's even more exceptional. Behind every decision there is an analysis and then it may or may not work out because this is football", explained Lopetegui, as he covered the decisions he makes to decide on the starting line-ups.
At the end, the manager was asked about En-Nesyri's strong performances in recent weeks: "Youssef has started many matches, just like Luuk. They are decisions that we take at every moment. He has improved a lot and he will continue. He's working very well, and he's got a lot of desire and ambition".
