Sevilla FC and Hertha BSC have reached an agreement which will see Dodi Lukebakio join the club on a five-year deal.

The 25-year old Belgian international of Congolese descent is a quick left-footed attacker who can play on both flanks, and has good numbers in terms of goal contributions.

Lukebakio came through the ranks of one of his local teams, RSC Anderlecht, and broke into the first team in the 2015/16 season, making 18 appearances, including his UEFA Europa League debut. He then spent a season at Toulouse before returning to Belgium to play for RSC Charleroi, scoring three goals in 20 appearances.

He then signed for Watford FC in January 2018, but only played in one Premier League match, and was loaned to Fortuna Dusseldorf in the 2018/19 season.

That season would be Lukebakio's breakthrough season, with 14 goals and five assists in 34 appearances, including a hat-trick against none other than Bayern Munich. Interestingly, he was the first player to score a hat-trick against Manuel Neuer in a Bundesliga match.

Lukebakio has eight caps for Belgium

After that impressive season, he was signed by Hertha BSC ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. In his first two seasons, he made 67 appearances, scoring 16 and setting up a further 13.

The 2021/22 season was spent on loan at VfL Wolfsburg, featuring on 25 occasions. That season also marked his debut in the UEFA Champions League, and he went on to feature in both Group Stage matches against Sevilla.

Last season he returned to the German capital and turned in a series of impressive performances, with 12 goals and five assists in 33 appearances.

Lukebakio also has eight international caps for Belgium, making his debut back in November 2020. Strangely enough, he also featured in a friendly for DR Congo, his second nationality, in a friendly in 2016.
