MACHÍN: 'THEIR GOALS CAME IN OUR BEST MOMENT'

Sevilla FC's manager rued his team's defeat having been in front and put in a huge effort

Pablo Machín, Sevilla FC's manager, analysed tonight's defeat in Krasnodar: 'Football is full of paradoxes - when we were worse we scored and then their goals arrived in our best moment, especially the second one which really hurt. We're still the same team. We competed in a tough pitch and we knew it was going to be complicated. The disappointment is to have put in such a huge effort and return with a defeat.

'They have physical, quality players and they pressed well. We tried to play deep to look for passes in between the lines and we had our moment. In the second half, despite being better, we conceded two goals,' the Sevilla manager responded regarding the game's development.

Machín explained the line-up with included several changes: 'There are a lot of games and players who have played many minutes. We want to give them a rest and an opportunity to the rest of the squad because we're all one group. We need everyone to have energy so we can achieve big things. We conceded when we had the regulars on the pitch, so it's not fair to put the defeat down to the changes.'
