Sevilla FC sporting director Monchi spoke to club media after the end of the last sixteen Copa del Rey tie which ended in defeat. "Real Betis didn't have anything to do with it but I take from this that the authorities were not considerate. Jordán was not able to be with us. It wasn't a pantomime but a reality. It is a disadvantage to not be with 100% of the players from yesterday. We can all make legal speculations but deciding at two in the morning, searching and finding dates... I want to bring calmness and normality, not go back over it."
"Everybody is responsible for what they write. I also sometimes believe the crazy things I have written. Looking back is not good. We have to be sensible and calm. Everyone did what they thought was right. I've been killed for going out and waving when we have won here before and I will do it again. I respect everyone" he said.
"The difference between fans and executives is that we have to be above whatever situation."
Monchi also highlighted that "it is a difficult defeat to take and even more in such a special game We have to know how to recover and the important thing is to pick yourself back up when you're down. It has been a very difficult week; it seems like we are looking for excuses but this is the reality. We have shown many times that we know how to fall and pick ourselves back up and I am sure we will again."
Lastly, the sporting director replied about the state of relations between both clubs. "The difference between fans and executives is that we have to be above whatever situation. I respect all the Real Betis players, few people have missed me to shake my hand today. Let's try to work together. I am not Sevillan but if you allowed me to wave a magic wand I would ask that everyone defends what is theirs but respectfully. It is a moment to set an example. I say this after losing, the same as I would have said if we won. We don't need to look for something that isn't there. I am hurt like everyone else but that is football."
