Sevilla FC's remarkable European history in the 21st century is progressing without any signs of slowing down. Since the team's celebrated it's return to the UEFA cup under Joaquín Caparrós back in May 2003, Sevilla's presence on the continental stage has been constant. With the exception of the 2012/13 campaign, in which the team were unable to qualify for either. The record stands, without any doubts, that the team has been present in 17 of the last 18 European campaigns

Without focusing too much on the analysis of last night's performance, it was confirmed that the team would yet again fight it out amongst Europe's elite for the ninth consecutive season. To be precise, it has been achieved every year since the club missed out on a place on the European stage way back in the 2012/13 campaign. In the 2013/14 we were back on the success trail with clinching silverware in Turin, again in 2015 in Warsaw and in 2016 in Basel. The following season, 2016/17, we were back in the last sixteen, this time in the UEFA Champions League.

In three of the last eight European campaigns, Sevilla have ended up clinching a trophy

In the 2017/18 season, again in the Champions League, not only did the team reach the knockouts but went one step further when we overcame Manchester United and took on Bayern Munich in the quarters. A year later we were back competing in the Europa League, again in the knockouts, but to our dismay, we were knocked out by Slavia Prague. Soon after, the unusual, yet successful, 2019/20 campaign would come about, a season in which Sevilla would once again lift the UEL in Cologne. We faced Roma in the last sixteen and would eventually go on to beat Inter Milan in the final.

The most recent part of Sevilla's European sparkling attendance over last two years has been last year's return to the Champions League, a year in which Sevilla got back to competing amongst 16 of Europe's elite. Having finished second in the group, Sevilla came up against Borussia Dortmund, who would send us packing our bags in a tightly contested affair. Now, back in the Europa League after two years, the team has reached this "recurring" last sixteen tie with a desire to get through to the next stage and making progress in a competition that can only be described as our bread and butter.
