Sevilla FC apologise profusely for the problems that many fans had in being able to access the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium for the game in the last sixteen of the UEL against West Ham. A number of reasons, some attributable to the club itself and others to the fans themselves, together meant that many fans were not able to access the stadium on time and get to their seat for the start of the game.
The early kick-off time at 18:45 meant that many fans were not able to arrive to the ground in advance. The construction work on San Francisco Javier, one of the main access roads for cars to the Sánchez-Pizjuán, was just closed for a few days for the installation of a new tram line, did not help fans to get to the stadium on time. Also in the Gol Sur, the location of the West Ham fans to fulfill the 5% capacity requirement for the visiting club meant a change in the access for the Sevilla fans. All of this created a "perfect storm" that meant a number of those who got to the stadium just before the start faced unwanted queues.
Sevilla FC will work to improve access to the stadium in these types of cases, although it wishes to highlight that these works in San Francisco Javier will last for a year and a half and not only this but they will also be on avenue Luis de Morales, adjacent to the Sánchez-Pizjuán, which will create problems in the next few months. The club would like to advise as much as it is possible, for fans to get to their seats to avoid any last-minute problems.
