Pablo Machín gave a press conference before Saturday's match in Vigo: 'We have to win every match, that's our obligation. We're back to the league and it's a good chance to get back on track and win away.' Even so, he was asked many questions about Wednesday's painful defeat: 'I accept the responsibility, I'm the manager and when things aren't good you look towards the bench. I don't want anyone to be in any doubt - I am responsible and I think long and hard about all the decisions I take. The line up was the best one we could have put out, it is justified by the information that people don't have but that I do have. I have to accept, if there was criticism, and I'm sure there was, that my job means I am responsible for it. I am clear in that I did what I had to do and then you can talk. I haven't read anything but about Ben Yedder being on the bench, the changes... If you put one player on you have to take one out, you have to balance the squad, look at who's been playing a lot and make sure you have a plan B off the bench.'

Analysing the Camp Nou defeat, he reiterated his opinion on the match: 'It's not easy, with the injuries we had, to compete and beat Barcelona. We conceded six goals and I will analyse everything. Some people will look at some things and others will look at other things, but during the game we had a chance of going through. The penalty against us was very dubious, then our penalty we missed, Silva hitting the post... Barcelona played well and that's why they scored so many goals, but we didn't deserve to concede so many. We did not give up and we did score. From then until the 88th minute we could have gone through, I looked at the other bench and they weren't looking too happy. Then the last two goals... whoever says we conceded six is ultimately right, but it wasn't a debacle looking at it generally even with some circumstances against us and some decisions not fairly treating us. I accept the blame and we will move on. We lost against a top team, we had a chance to go through and we are now looking towards Saturday.'

'Up until the 88th minute we had a chance, we lost against a top team'

Machín was then asked about VAR: 'I'm not part of other teams and every team will have their opinion. I don't want to say we've been punished and you have to analyse it yourselves. I think that 95% of times that penalty isn't getting called, but we're all human. VAR is there to make things fairer but I would not want to say that we've been the most unfairly treated by it. What's true is that with or without VAR football is still producing controversy. We have to work on it and we're all in agreement over that it's a positive evolution for the good of football.'

He admitted there are things to learn: 'I always analyse every game. I usually keep my thoughts from the public because I don't want to create more controversy but it's very difficult to beat Barcelona in a two-legged tie. I keep on saying that we were closer to going through than what the final result says. We have to learn from every game, not only this last one.' He is looking forward to the future with optimism: 'I'm positive and we should all be. The facts are there, we are in a good position in La Liga, qualified for the Europa League knock-out rounds and it will be a tough tie. Until then we will focus on La Liga, get players back so we can be more competitive and move forward with our objectives.'

'We have to work on VAR and we're all in agreement over that it's a positive evolution for the good of football'

We need to get back to winning ways on the road: 'There are some stats which are more striking than others and every team finds it harder away from home. What's clear is that we feel better at home because the fans push us on. I don't think we aren't competitive away from home because not too long ago we were unbeaten for ten games and many of them would have been away. When you don't lose you always have a chance of winning and the team is capable of winning at Celta or any other team's stadium. We were very close to winning in Valencia. I see more positives than negatives.

To finish, he spoke about the transfer window and let slip Rog may make his debut tomorrow: 'I'm confident the club did all they could do to bring the best players and we have is the most we could have had. They're top players, we changed Muriel for Munir, it's just a shame he's injured. The new players are for the present and future. I'm sure Rog will make us more competitive. We would have liked to have benefitted from our deep squad in all three competitions, we're in two now and we must fight for them. We understand Rog is able to play tomorrow. We have to adapt to the circumstances and our other signings made their debuts because it was necessary. We have a lot of people in Marko's position but he can help us.'
