Sevilla FC Ladies´ coach Paco García, spoke to the media to make his first evaluation of preseason work which started on the 31st of July. The Sevilla coach praised the adjustment of the team to his style of play, which had two meetings against male teams – the youth teams of AD San José y AD Nervión – as an initial test: “The adjustment of the team has been good for our part. In that sense the girls have a great work ethic. During these three weeks of games, we are within what the coaching team had expected, we´re on our way and are gradually assimilating concepts. The two male opponents we´ve had demanded a high level of conditioning and we are happy with what the girls have done, we are starting to see elements of what we´re working towards and aiming for”.
As per usual with preseason, the players have had to put in a lot of effort to get fit, but the Nervión coach recognises that, before facing the El Lorca Ladies team at 19:30 this Saturday in the Ciudad Deportiva, the players are showing their strength “the physical demands are important, but the team is showing itself to be strong in all these aspects. El Lorca is an opponent that is going to come and test us, because we are Sevilla FC. We can also take positives from facing a female team for the first time. The team will be ready to go”.
Paco García also praised the work of the seven new arrivals, who he sees as already integrated in the team: “The arrivals are introducing themselves very well in the group and assimilating work very well. We have spent a lot of time together and they seem happy and eager to show off their football”. He also had time to talk about the affiliate players who, by his orders, are training with the team for the first phase of the season: “the home grown players are working hard and are players who we think, despite their age, can make the jump to the first team”.
Concluding, the coach, who this season makes his debut in the Women´s Frist Division and for the club itself, also spoke about the league calendar, focusing himself one match at a time: “we´re very excited to get started. We have to respect our first opponent, and this coaching team will not think beyond that because at the end of the day, you have to face up to every single challenge. El Sporting will demand a lot. We are working to play our football and win three points”.
