Our coach Quique Sánchez Flores spoke at the press conference ahead of tomorrow's game against Getafe CF, on LALIGA EA Sports Matchday 30. He began by emphasising that "these have been two very difficult weeks, the feeling from the defeat has lasted a long time and letting go has been difficult. We have put ourselves in the shoes of the fans. We have to get together and focus on what we have done well up until now. Sow has worked to get into the squad and will travel, along with Badé."
"Both teams know each other well. They come into the game with more points and so are able to change this up a bit. They can also go back to their usual style, which they changed against Girona. They do lots of things well, they are demanding team to face, they're threatening and make it difficult. Every match is different; we cannot become complacent thinking that we have already won against them in the cup," he continued.
"A win gives you credit but not prestige, and in defeats, you have to remain neutral to avoid being carried away by negative thoughts that drag you down"
Sánchez Flores also added that "my relationship with Youssef is as good as it ever was. Dialogue is the best translator in times of conflict. We have talked and both of us have learned from that situation. There is always time to learn. Lessons have been learned and we need to stay united, together, and to know that what is best for the fans is to have their top scorer and their coach on the same page"
"The realities of such a competitive league is that things can change in an instant, and we have to react as soon as possible. There are things to be done, as we have always said, we have to keep living up to expectations. But we must always manage emotions, a win gives you credit but not prestige, and in defeats, you have to remain neutral to avoid being carried away by negative thoughts that drag you down. Humility and work until the very end," he commented on the team's feelings.
"The players and myself make demands to each other"
"Having everyone fit and back on the training pitch is super positive. Some players may be working their way back but the fact that we can count on everyone helps to build competition in the squad. The players and myself make demands to each other," he added regarding the recovery of all players.
"I don't give myself any importance; I want to be equally praised and criticised. I can't ask anything more from the Sevilla fans; they are incredible. There are nine games left, and we are very close to the teams that have just overtaken us. We have two versions of Sevilla, one of emotion and order, and one of chaos. One gets results and the other none," he finished by saying.
