LaLiga is back after a two-week break due to the round of international fixtures. In fact, it's been three weeks since the last league fixture at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, when Osasuna were roundly beaten on a rainy afternoon. Strangely enough, the same forecast is expected for this match too. Deportivo Alavés, another northern team, are the visitors for the Matchday 14 fixture, and Sevilla will be looking for a win to maintain their perfect home record in LaLiga, with five wins from five.
With 15 points at home and 12 away, Sevilla FC have picked up 27 points from 12 matches, a point behind leaders Real Sociedad, but with a game in hand against FC Barcelona that will take place just before Christmas. The Nervionenses are third in the table, level on points with Real Madrid, but one goal behind in terms of goal difference. A win today would be the third on the spin, following on from the derby win and the 2-0 win against Osasuna. It would also stretch the unbeaten run to six, after the only defeat of the season against Granada.
Sevilla FC are looking to maintain their 100% home record, while Deportivo Alavés are looking to extend their unbeaten run to five
As for the visitors, Deportivo Alavés come into this fixture in a very strong run of form. They have taken points from their last four matches, with wins against Cádiz CF, Elche CF and Levante UD, and an impressive draw at the Camp Nou. Those performances after the October international break have taken Javi Calleja's side out of the relegation zone and up to fourteenth place with thirteen points, two clear of 18th.
As for team selection, Julen Lopetegui cannot call upon Jesús Navas and Youssef En-Nesyri, who are still injured, while Ximo Navarro is unavailable for Deportivo Alavés after he picked up an injury against FC Barcelona. The match will kick off at 16:15 and will be officiated by Muñiz Ruiz. He is from Galicia and is in his first season refereeing in the top flight. González González is on VAR duty.
