Sevilla Atlético are putting together an incredibly impressive season, with their performances at home fortress Estadio Jesús Navas providing the foundation for their superb form. The reserve team, currently leading Group 4 of the 2nd RFEF with 31 points, have proved themselves to be the best regional side of the 90 teams that make up the category.
The results are there for all to see and, along with Europa FC and Lleida Esportiu, Jesús Galván's boys has are the only other outfit that have won all seven of their home games. Victories against FC Cartagena B (3-0), FC La Unión Atlético (2-0), Yeclano Deportivo (2-0), CD Manchego (3-0), Cádiz CF Mirandilla (5-0), Racing Cartagena FC (1-0) and most recently against Marbella FC (2-0) are evidence of the excellent vein of home form that the team is enjoying. More impressive still is the fact that this current purple patch actually extends even further; the reserves ended last season by beating CD Utrera, Atlético Manch Real and Vélez CF at the Estadio Jesús Navas, the latter scheduled to visit the stronghold on Sunday.
The common denominator of these home victories has undoubtedly been watertight defensive solidity. The reserve side, initially under ex-head coach Antonio Hidalgo and now his successor Galván, have been able to make their stadium a fortress by recording seven consecutive clean sheets. In this regard, the fervent support of home fans has also been vital and, in the last match against the Marbella, there were almost 2,000 people in attendance to witness a clash in which Bakary Sow, aged just 17, made his debut, demonstrating the value of youth when there is a wealth of experience elsewhere in the division.
