The best away side in the league came up against a team with a 100% record at home this afternoon in Seville. With wind and rain playing an unusual part in the city, Sevilla FC came out on top to come away with the three points in a hard-fought win at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. It was never going to be easy and Julen Lopetegui opted for a solid, practical game supported by set-piece firepower. The opener came from a magnificent delivery from Rakitić which Diego Carlos met at pace, while the second saw Ocampos make the most of a lapse in concentration in the Osasuna defence. The 2-0 win keeps us joint top ahead of an important week with the Champions League match against Lille and Sunday's derby.

Lopetegui expected a tough game and that was what he got. The team fought for control of the centre of the pitch against the best away side in the league. The first chance for Sevilla came around ten minutes in when Ocampos surprised the Osasuna defence with a quick throw-in and Lamela got a shot off. Two minutes later, Osasuna responded with a shot that went just wide. With 15 minutes gone, Sevilla began to attack more but Osasuna remained dangerous with Bono having to deny a shot from Ávila. A shot from Marcos Acuña went over while Rafa Mir had the best chance from a header at point-blank range which kissed the post as it went wide.

Diego Carlos opened the scoring from a corner

The game calmed down a bit and Osasuna began to control the ball and manage Sevilla's attacks down the wings through Ocampos and Lamela. Without ever worrying the home side, Osasuna seemed to have the match as they wanted it, but just before the break they saw Diego Carlos rise high to head home a wonderful delivery from Iván Rakitić. Shortly after, Sevilla had another corner which they worked to Delaney, but the ball was sent wide for another corner.

The second half was cagey in its first moments as both teams wanted to take control of the ball. It became a scrappy game and Sevilla could not find their rhythm to push for a second. On the hour-mark, Jesús Navas replaced Montiel. The game was lacking in action but, in La Liga, any mistake can be fatal. Just after the 60th minute, indecision between Juan Pérez and García allowed Ocampos to steal the ball and roll the ball into an empty net. The scoreboard went to 2-0 as Sevilla seemed to be heading to a win against a side yet to lose away in the league at that point.

Indecision between the goalkeeper and centre-back allowed Ocampos in to score the second

Osasuna's coach made a triple substitution, while Lopetegui brought on Gudelj for the booked Jordán. Sevilla took control of the game and had chances for at third. With his last substitution, Julen brought on Youssef En-Nesyri, returning from an injury, for Rafa Mir. Fernando also came on for Delaney. The Moroccan almost set up Ocampos for a third but Juan Pérez came up with a great save to deny the Argentine.

Osasuna could have pulled one back following an error from Koundé, but the shot went wide. The referee brought the game to an end on a rainy day in Seville as the team picked up point number 15 from an available 15 at home this season. Next week is a big one for the guys with a key Champions League clash on Tuesday against Lille, before El Gran Derbi on Sunday night.
