Victory against Spartak in Sevilla's second home fixture of the Group Stages has put the Nervionenses back in a qualification spot for the knock-out stages of the Champions League. After falling to third place following defeat in Moscow, Wednesday's victory represents a huge step towards achieving one of the club's most important season objectives. In Group E's other game, goals from Salah, Emre Can and Sturridge ensured there would be no surprise draw for Maribor at Anfield after a goalless first-half. The Slovenian side now have virtually no chance of making it to the latter stages.
In Sevilla's next Champions League game - on the 21st of November in Nervión - the Nervionenses will have the chance to secure their place in the knock-out stages if they beat Liverpool FC. Just after will come the trip to Maribor, who, in all likelihood, will not be playing for anything in their final fixture. In that regard, Spartak still need to host Maribor in Moscow and will be giving everything in an attempt to reclaim a qualifying spot.
