The RFEF's Comité de Competición (Committee of Competition), this Wednesday, declared that the second yellow card seen by Roque Mesa in el Gran Derbi on Sunday in the Benito Villamarín will not take effect. In that regard, appeals presented by Sevilla FC's legal department have been accepted, with video footage showing that the Sevilla player did not impede goalkeeper Pau López, as the referee interpreted: "In the 65th minute, the player (7) Mesa Quevedo, Roque was cautioned for the following reason: "Obstructing the path of an opponent"'. In their report the Committee acknowledged: "to the contrary, it is concluded that it is the opposing goalkeeper who throws himself onto the cautioned player, knocking him down".
The centre-midfielder, who in principle would not have been eligible for the first game after the international break, will now be available to face Getafe CF on the 16th of September in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
