In the rainy Saturday afternoon, Sevilla FC reached an important milestone at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. 'The Chocolate Box' of Nervión has seen 1,000 games with the red and whites at home throughout the 57 seasons since the club left the Old Nervión to establish a new ground, constructed only a few metres from their old stadium.

Throughout the years the team has won on 572 occasions, has drawn 233 games and suffered 195 defeats. This translates to a win percentage of 57.2% and an unbeaten rate of 80.5%. In terms of goals, they have scored a notable 1,651, having conceded significantly fewer, 908 in total. Interestingly, the figure does not match the name of games that Sevilla FC have played as the home side in the first division. Out of the 1,005 games you have to take away five in which the team had to play away from home for different reasons. In the 1999/00 season they played against Numancia in Chapín and against Rayo Vallecano in Almendralejo. Then in 2002/03 they welcomed Mallorca at the Ramón de Carranza, Málaga once again at the Chapín and Real Madrid at La Cartuja

On Tuesday, the Sánchez-PIzjuán will again be all decked out but not for a first division game. This time it will be decorated with the Champions League branding, as well as with its loyal fans to keep alive their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the biggest continental competition.
