Sergio Rico was extremely pleased following the the victory against Spartak that propelled the team into second place of the group: "I could see right from the start that we were playing with good intensity and aggression, looking to steal the ball back in the opposition's half whilst maintaining a strong attack. We were able to carry our strong start forwards and we were playing the game as we had planned to. We worked hard and we began to score".

Questioned about the final moments that tested the squad, he addressed the nature of the tournament: "In the Champions League you come up against great opponents and it's normal that they are equally as good as you in their attack. They looked to bounce back, but our team have learnt to grow, struggle and win, that was the most important thing tonight".

The Sevilla FC goalkeeper views a win against Liverpool as key if the team are to progress to first place: "We really want to win against a team with a history rooted in the Champions League so that once again the Sánchez-Pizjuán can enjoy a great victory such as tonight's". Finally, the player wasn't interested in saving the honour of Spanish football in last night's Champions League clash: "I am extremely pleased with Sevilla FC's victory".
