The ceremony aimed to raise awareness of gender violence and emphasise the need to eliminate a societal problem that has already claimed the lives of 45 women in 2017 (in Spain). The slogan of the campaign is "HAY SALIDA" (there is a way out).

Club Chairman José Castro made a speech: "Denouncing is easy but so is raising awareness. And when I talk about raising awareness, I'm talking about creating a mentality of equality for new generations. Perhaps if we had instilled this culture of equality before the onset of 'machista' violence, this would not be as big a problem as it is today. I'm sure of that. Still, let's be optimistic and make sure that optimism helps us double down in our efforts to achieve a society where equality is an undebatable reality. Because it will be then that we can truly put an end to violence against women once and for all. This renewed commitment we make today, without a doubt, is a good step in achieving that goal", he explained.
