Sevilla FC and Ajax have reached an agreement for the transfer of Maximilian Wöber, who will join the Nervionenses provided he passes a medical and signs his contract with the Nervión Club.
Maximilian Wöber (4th of February 1998), was born in Vienna, Austria and plays primarily as a centre-back (where he has made 48 appearances), though he has also acted as a left-back in ten matches. Arriving at Rapid Vienna when just 14 years old, Wöber developed in the Austrian club's youth ranks before making his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga in the 16/17 season - though he had featured in the in the Europa League one season before, playing as a left-back against Valencia.
A naturally versatile player, Wöber has been deployed as both a centre-back and a left-back
In 16/17 he played a total of 17 matches for Rapid, eleven coming in the Bundesliga. The very same year he would reach the final of the Austrian Cup, a competition he played four matches in (including a losing effort in the final). Wöber took no time in attracting the attention of one of the most historic clubs in Europe - Ajax - who he joined in the summer of 2017. In his first season in Amsterdam he would play thirty matches in Eredivisie and six matches in the Champions League.
Internationally, the Austrian has won caps at all youth levels since debuting at the age of 15. He would become a full international when playing as a left-back in a World Cup qualifier against Serbia. Since then, he has won another cap against Moldova.
Versatility, youth and physicality with this reinforcement, as Sevilla once again bank on potential and plenty of room for professional growth.
