Juanlu Sánchez received his first Spain U-21 call up on Friday. Chief selector, Santi Denia, who has picked Juanlu previously in the lower age-groups for Spain, has selected the Sevilla right back for the upcoming games against Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Both games will be played away from home, the first a friendly against Uzbekistan before facing the Kazakhs in a Euro U-21 2025 qualifier.
The call-up comes as a reward for the consistently high level of performances from the youngster, who has cemented his place in José Luis Mendilibar’s squad in recent times. The under-21 team has enjoyed a fine start to their qualifying campaign, winning their first games in Malta (0-6) and at home to Scotland (1-0) in Jaén. The upcoming matches will take place firstly on Friday 13th October at 15:30 CEST against Uzbekistan in the capital, Tashkent, then on Tuesday 17th against Kazakhstan at the Astana Arena, kicking off in the same time slot.
