He made his debut exactly three years and 15 days ago in a home league match against Deportivo Alavés, a few days after his arrival in the January transfer market from AC Milan. A lot of time has passed since then and Suso, last night against PSV, came off the bench in the second half to make his 100th appearance for the club. At 29 years old, the man from Cadiz  is experienced but still young, having left Spain at a young to try and make a name for himself in the Premier League, before becoming well-known in Serie A.

Upon his arrival in Nervión he landed on his feet, quickly becoming a key part of the team which won the Europa League in Cologne. The most obvious example of this was the goal he scored against Manchester United which levelled the Semi-Final in Germany. Although a serious ankle injury reduced his involvement in the side this season, he has gradually started to get back to his best, leaving his mark on the team and capable of scoring goals when getting forward.

The man from Cadiz reached 100 appearances

With regard to his general stats, he has play 69 matches in LaLiga, 9 in the Copa del Rey, 14 in the Champions League, 7 in the Europa League and one in the Supercup. In these games he has scored a combined total of 6 goals and 10 assists. In the league he has scored against RCD Espanyol, Valencia CF, Real Betis and Deportivo Alavés. He scoured in our Last 16 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League during the 2020/21 season. As has been already mentioned, perhaps his most important goal for us came against Manchester United in the Semi-Final of the UEFA Europa League in Cologne, as Sevilla FC won 2-1 and would go onto win our sixth Europa League title after beating Inter Milan, a game which Suso would start. In total, he has played for 5,522 minutes in the Sevilla jersey.

Having made his 100th appearance, he joins a number of other first team players who have reached this impressive figure, including: Bono, Jesús Navas, Gudelj, Fernando, Acuña; Jordán, Rakitic, Óliver Torres; Lucas Ocampos, Suso and En-Nesyri.

Yesterday was also an important game for Gonzalo Montiel, who came on to make his 50th appearance in red-and-white. A breakdown of those shows he played 31 games in LaLiga Santander where he scored one goal and made four assists, eight appearances in the Copa del Rey and a further eight in the Champions League (one goal scored in this too), and three matches in the Europa League.
