Suso was in the news yesterday as it was announced that Sevilla FC had exercised their option to buy him on a five-year deal. The man from Cádiz spoke to official media about his half season so far in Nervión: "The first aim we had, or the one we had since I arrived, was getting into the Champions League. It's what we were fighting for, as well as doing a good job in the Europa League, which will come now, the aim was Champions League qualification".
SUSO, HAPPY AFTER MAKING HIS MOVE PERMANENT: "THE BEST IS YET TO COME"
The winger also spoke about his injury which hindered him during the final straight: "The week we played Betis, I had a problem in my knee and I could not train for a few days. It was difficult for me to follow the rhythm that my teammates had because I did not play in the two practice matches that week. But the team began well too, they played very well and the more people that are involved, that are active, that are in the group dynamic, the better. It makes a team stronger regardless of who plays. Now I feel very good".
He is looking to the future with optimism and excitement: "The best is yet to come. I have not been where I would have liked to be, but the aim was reaching the Champions League, it was what we had to achieve and from now on there'll be nice things. I'm calmer now, I'm very happy and I think that that week was a key moment that bothered me a bit. I'll return little by little".
He also spoke about Roma, our European opponents, a side who he knows well: "It will be a different Europa League. It would have been a lot better to play two legs, having a home match with the fans and obviously all those matches afterwards. But the Europa League is Sevilla's competition and we're going to do a good job. Roma is a very good side, with a good manager, and from now on we'll try to reach the final and win it".
