GARCÍA PIMIENTA: "WE WEREN'T AT OUR BEST, BUT WE WENT FOR IT FROM THE BEGINNING"

Xavi García Pimienta spoke to the media following the draw against Valencia CF. First, he said, "We are left feeling that we didn't play well, but the team was always looking forward and the goal we conceded came from the only mistake we made, but in the end we managed to avoid losing. We weren't at our best, but the intention to go out and win the game was there. It was quite a tense game, both halves. We came into it following a disappointing trip to Almería and naturally we wanted to put things right in front of our fans. Our attitude was good and it is a shame that we didn't win. Rubén's shot that came off the inside of the post, the disallowed goal... We created a lot more than them, but in the end we scored from one of the least threatening situations!"

Finally, he gave his verdict on the debutant Rubén Vargas. "It was a tricky period for Rubén to come on, but he showed us the quality that he has. He had only trained with us once before the match. It would have been wonderful had his shot gone in, rather than coming back off the post, but he showed us that he has something to give, and I'm confident that there is more of that to come."
