Alejandro Pozo will face the team that was - and still is in his heart. The Copa del Rey tie between UD Almería and Sevilla FC resulted in the right-back appearing this afternoon on 'Solo el Sevilla' to discuss the matchup: "We are doing well, on a good streak. Personally, I'm happy. We were really eager to play the Cup at home after several years. Sevilla are a great team, and we are coming in good form and have chances. In a single-match game, anything can happen, and it’s going to be a very exciting match, an Andalusian derby with a great atmosphere."
His permanent departure was in 2021 after several loan spells, but Pozo hasn’t forgotten the club where he was trained: "For me, it will always be special to play against Sevilla. It’s a special match because I came from there and I'm a Sevilla fan, but we are very motivated and believe we can do something great in this Cup. I was here watching the draw, and as soon as Sevilla came up, I spoke with my family, already joking about who will win, with that rivalry."
A match that, curiously, will be the first without Jesús Navas: "For me, I’ve always said it, he’s my idol and will always be. I’m proud to have been able to share the changing room and position with him. He has always helped me, and I get along very well with him. I have a special affection for him, and it's a shame that he's retiring, but he must be very proud of what he has accomplished.” Lastly, he spoke about the current role of the youth academy in the first team: "There are many youth players now. The club is in a different situation than when I was there, and they are taking advantage of their opportunity. Yesterday, there where goals from Isaac and Juanlu, assists from Kike... For me, it’s one of the best youth academies in Spain and has some very interesting players."
