Sevilla Atlético rescued an important draw against CD Manchego. Both sides had their sights set on three points, but had to settle for one. Mateo's unstoppable header in the 89th minute levelled the game after Pablo gave Manchego the lead.
It was not an easy start for the reserves, playing in Ciudad Real without Matías, Darío, Xavi Sintes, Lulo, Manu Bueno and Stanis Idumbo, all of which were called up to the first team. Their first meaningful attack ended in a disallowed goal, Capi's free kick found Ramón Martínez in the box, but his effor was ruled out for offside. Van Rooijen forced Alberto Flores into an important save with a powerful long-range effort. The home side finished the half on the front half and Israel Peter could have given them the lead. But having rounded Alberto Flores, he could not direct his effort on target.
More of the same came during the second half, and Sevilla Atlético went behind just after the hour mark. A corner was cleared only as far as the edge of the penalty area, where Pablo Kawecki was waiting. His impressive strike flew into the top corner and opened the scoring. CD Manchego continued to press but could not add to their lead, Alberto Flores making one of the saves of the season to deny Peter from close range.
Mateo equalised in the 89th minute
In the final stages of the match, the reserves showed their attacking threat against a Manchego side that had defended resiliently. Zarzana whipped in a cross from the right-hand side which Mateo connected with sweetly, heading the ball into the back of the net and leaving the goalkeeper no chance. They are now 14 games unbeaten as they prepare to face CD Estepona next week at the Estadio Jesús Navas.
