After passing his medical and signing his contract, Adnan Januzaj sat down with Sevilla FC Official Media for his first interview as a Sevillista.
To begin, the Belgian international spoke about his initial feelings after signing on a free transfer.
"It's been a stressful few hours, but I'm happy to be here and I'm looking forward to enjoying football here. I've trained hard alone all summer, I've been on the pitch and in the gym every day to try and be at a good level physically."
"Of course, it's not the same as training with teammates, but you have to be ready because any team can give you a call at any time and you have to be ready. I was very calm because I know what type of player I am, and I knew there would be offers."
"In the end, I'm here, at a big club with great fans and I hope to be able to enjoy being with them very soon."
The winger discussed what it's like to play away at Nervión, and against the Sevilla fans.
"It's very hard to play at this stadium. I played here last year and they're very strong opponents, they press a lot and don't let you play. They're technically good in every sense. They press high up and always want to attack. For a player like me that's important, I can get the ball high up and enjoy it."
"I'm a player that has to have the ball, I have a creative style of play. When the fans enter the stadium, they pay the entry fee to see a show. When I was little, my favourite players were Zidane, Riquelme and Ronaldinho, they pulled off the most magic on the pitch. When I bought a ticket, it was to watch those players."
"Before matches each team has their own anthem and when I came here it was spectacular, you can hear the fans really well and that makes it nice."
"Sometimes people think I'm over 30, but I'm only 27"
Adnan then spoke about the start of his professional career, when he was a Manchester United player.
"It's helped me a lot during my career. I started when I was very young and sometimes eople think I'm over 30, but I'm only 27. I am in the best moment of my career, I think 33 is the peak, and I have to keep working hard and enjoying myself."
"When I was 17 I was playing in front of 80,000 people and I was very calm, because when you have that confidence in yourself to do things well, it will always work out well."
"The manager who had a real impact on me was Ferguson, because he really believed in me and he's not the type of manager to give you an opportunity just like that, without having quality and other things. He gave me my first minutes as a professional."
"I've never gone into a match with the mentality of stepping out onto the pitch and trying to do things badly. That's not in any players' minds. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't play football. When I was little I had footballs at home and in the strreet, and I remember I had to make footballs out of socks because my dad didn't let me play at home."
"Being a footballer means a lot of hard work. People think it's easy, but it's hard because there's a lot of sacrifice. I went to England when I was 15, a place I didn't know and I had to adapt. The same happened in Germany and Spain. It's difficult but you have to be open to everything."
"I'm a versatile player, I can play on the right, the left, or behind the striker"
The Belgian also revealed where he can play on the pitch, and his favourite position.
"I'm a versatile player, I can play on the right, the left, or behind the striker, that's my favourite because I have more freedom. If not, I play on the wings. I've also played in midfield and I did that. It's important to play in a number of positions."
"I've been a professional for a long time and as you mature you change a lot on the pitch. I think I'm a lot more mature now than when I was 18 or 19. As I said earlier, from 27 to 33 is when you can push on and show people who you are."
He also has fond memories of Sevilla, as he won the Copa del Rey with Real Sociedad at La Cartuja.
"They're good memories and I've also come here on a few days off to have a good time with my friends. It's a very pretty city."
"The Champions League is where every team wants to be"
He is also playing in the Champions League again, which is a bonus for any player.
"You really want to play in these matches because they're big matches. I'll be able to play against one of my former teams, Dortmund, and that excites me. There's no easy games, if you're there it's because you're at the top level and a team like Sevilla can do great things."
"I'm very excited to be back in the Champions League, I've played in the Europa League for four years straight and it's different. The Champions League is where every team wants to be."
To finish, he spoke about his chances of a call-up for Belgium's World Cup squad and a possible debut on Saturday.
"Firstly I want to enjoy myself here, prove myself and the rest will always follow. If you talk about the World Cup you put a lot of pressure on yourself. I have to enjoy myself here and the rest will come. Maybe I'm not ready for 90 minutes on Saturday, but I can start helping and getting minutes straight away."
