Our first-team head coach Joaquín Caparrós, spoke to the media ahead of the match against Deportivo Alavés. He began by analysing the work done in his first week back: "There is a great willingness and hunger among this group. I am confident that there is a lot of quality here. We have worked very well. Time is a fundamental element. I'm very happy with the mentality of the players".

Caparrós also spoke about the quality of the homegrown talents: 'They have played a leading role so far. The lads who are here are not here to make up the numbers or just gain experience. The youth players have my confidence, as well as that of the coaching staff and their teammates. We are going to continue to trust in the youth academy because there is a lot of talent."

He also emphasised the roles played by the likes of Suso: "He is a Sevilla FC player. They are players who are ours and, in a situation like the one we're in with the number of games left... I've spoken to all of them and I've been delighted with their mindsets. I have spoken to all of them on an individual level. I'm happy with his attitude and behaviour."

"We have to break the streak, and we going into these games with a positive attitude"

He also assessed the recovery process of Rubén Vargas: "It's difficult to know when he will return. He's getting better every day. I talk to him every day. We mustn't put pressure on him."

Reflecting on the form of tomorrow's opposition, the Sevilla icon said he was determined to break our current losing streak: "Alavés' mood is good, they are doing things well. They are a team that have evolved well. They are a team that competes well. We have to break the cycle, and we're going into these upcoming games with a positive attitude. Let's hope we have a good game tomorrow.

"The atmosphere on the pitch is going to be spectacular, the fans will support the players because I know the Sevilla FC fans. The fans have the right to demonstrate, but I am aware that on the pitch they will be with the players for sure," he continued. On what he has brought to the squad in his first few days in charge of the bench, the coach spoke about the team's attitude: "We'll see tomorrow. What I'm saying is that this is a group with a great desire to work, very open to dialogue. We have worked on this aspect. It's important that things go well for us, and that makes it easier for everyone. I know the squad, but it's another thing to be on the pitch and look them in the eye. Let's hope that everything goes the way we want it to in order to get that positive result that we need so much."

"Coming to my home stadium gives me great excitement"

Joaquín Caparrós also confirmed that the final training sessions before the league games will be held at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán: "We're going to train here on the eve of the game. We will come to our stadium. Coming to my home stadium gives me a lot of excitement. For those of us who are Sevillistas, it's a great joy. I'm looking forward to giving back to the fans for everything they have given us".

Questioned again about the youth team, he was happy about the growth of players such as Juanlu, Kike Salas and Manu Bueno: "It's a joy to see how they have been growing. Juanlu, Kike and Manu are people we have worked with individually a lot. I have the chance to train them and line up with them. It's important and says a lot about a youth academy that has always had a lot of talent. There are lads with a lot of quality and a great future."

The coach didn't want to focus on objectives beyond the match against Deportivo Alavés: "Once the match against Alavés is over, we'll think about the next one. We'll keep training and exploit the qualities of this team. Focus on the game at a time". Along these lines, he emphasised the communication carried out with the squad: "We have spoken to some players who can adapt to what we think. The results are what give confidence to the group and make them believe in what they are doing".

"I'm putting my Sevillismo, my desire and my experience into the game"

Again assessing the atmosphere at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, he said he was confident in the warmth of the fans: "The fans know what we're playing for. On the pitch they will be with the players. Off the pitch the fans are the free to have whatever views they hold. In our fortress, I'm sure they will be behind the players".

Caparrós concluded by emphasising his enthusiasm: "I'm putting my Sevillismo, my desire and my experience on the line. I want to contribute everything I can to a group with the determination to break this streak. I want to transmit my desire. I want us to transmit that energy to the ball."
